How to install Bison Composite Batten Cladding around Windows and Doors
Transcript
Bison Composite Batten Cladding is a timber-effect cladding board, giving the on-trend appearance of individual battens or slats.
When installing your cladding, you’ll want to integrate doors and possibly windows. A colour-coded steel drip should be installed to the joist above windows or doors to carry water away from the building. Drip trims are supplied in a 2.5 meter length and can be cut to the size of the window.
For wider openings, two lengths can simply be butted up together.
Secure the drip with 25mm screws and a maximum of 300mm centres. Be sure to leave a 4mm expansion gap above the drip when fitting the batten planks.
When installing doors and windows with deep reveals, use edge boards. Trim the edge boards to the correct width and length before fixing with both strong adhesive and colour head screws. Be sure to use silicon sealant along the back edge to prevent water ingress.
To complete the job, add the corner trims to the verticals of the window or door. You can notch the corner around the drip for a great finish.
