How to choose finish options for steel sheets explained by Southern Sheeting

What’s the difference between a polyester coated steel sheet and a plastic, or ‘Plastisol’, coated finish on a steel sheet?
The technical difference is the Plastisol finish has a higher resistance to scratching and UV light and is generally more durable as its 200-micron thermoplastic resin topcoat provides high corrosion resistance. It is also available in a far greater range of colours and typically gives a lifespan of 20-25 years. However, if well maintained, you can see coatings lasting 40 years in normal environments.
The polyester finish has the same galvanised substrate and primer specification but has a 25-micron pain thickness, which gives a 15-20 year life expectancy.
