What is Triplewall Polycarbonate Sheeting?
Multiwall polycarbonate sheeting is an extruded polycarbonate sheet comprising of multiple layers of polycarbonate providing a insulated roofing sheet available in 16mm, 25mm, 32mm and 35mm thickness. It is also available in different colour variations.
Triplewall and Multiwall Polycarbonate is the most prevalent form of polycarbonate sheeting, often used for conservatories and lean-to roofs. The various layers it’s composed from provide superb thermal insulation and relatively good sound insulation.
What is U-Value?
U-Value is a measure of how well a material prevents heat transfer, indicating its insulating efficiency. The lower the U-Value, the better the insulation, as less heat escapes through the material.
For the Force 10mm Clear Twinwall Polycarbonate, the U-Value is 3.2 W/m²K. This means it provides moderate thermal insulation, making it suitable for applications like greenhouses, canopies, and roofing where maintaining a balance between insulation and light transmission is important.
When do I use triplewall instead of twinwall?
Twinwall, Triplewall and Multiwall polycarbonate sheets are typically the same properties, but they offer different levels in one key field: insulation. The best way to understand this, is that the more layers a sheet has, the greater it's thickness and density. The higher the thickness and density, the greater the insulation it's going to provide and sturdier the structure.
As density increases (and amount of internal walls), you will find that the light transmission will slightly decrease.
Can you walk on 16mm Polycarbonate Sheeting?
It is not recommended to walk on 16mm Polycarbonate Triplewall Sheeting, but there is also dependence on how well it is supported below.
Where is 16mm Polycarbonate Sheeting most commonly installed?
